Rockets trying desperately to score. Three pass attempts to the endzone are thwarted. Fourth down and Colwell picks it off stopping the Rockets thrust. Phoenix takes a knee and that is a ball game. Don't forget our next game May 3 at home against the undefeated Utah Wolverines.

Not moving the ball on first or second down. Arnold completes a short pass to Lumpkin who turns it into a six yard gain. Fourth down with 2:00 left in the fourth. Spencers forty five yard field goal had plenty of distance, but misses just right.

Phoenix put the second string in on offense. Arnold at QB but without much time the Phoenix march backwards twenty yards. The punt receiver is blown up by Colwell and Sanderson recovers the ball.

Rockets take the kickoff to the forty, but a personal foul marches it back to the 25. A long pass over the middle is tipped by Hardenburg then caught, but the receiver fumbles after the catch. Sanderson recovers and returns it to midfield.

Phoenix have to go for it on fourth and Jurasek sneaks it for a first down at the 20 with 9:00 to go in the fourth.

Everyone in the booth says it was an incomplete forward pass, but the refs give the Rockets a fumble recovery and fifty five yard run resulting in a touchdown. Extra point was blocked

Phoenix defense holds and the punt goes out of bounds at the fifteen. First down Phoenix! First down Shane Byers on a nice pass. First down on a scramble by Shane Jurasek. Urdahl with six yards up the middle with 5:40 left in the half. Lumpkin then takes a short pass and turns it into a big gainer to the Rockets 46 yard line.

An unbelievable 48 yard punt into the teeth of a hurrican headwind and Frankie Jordan downs it on the eight. D-Line stuffs the first run bringing up second and ten. Batted ball by Nick True brings up third down and ten. Sack! Andrew Leichtman sack the QB on the one.

First down on their own forty six and Henry Atkinson explodes for a 17 yard gain around the left end. Flag on the play, personal foul at the end of the play returns the ball to the original line of scrimmage. Jurasek sacked on the next play.

Temperature is around 70 degrees and gusts of 30 mph on the field. The Canadians couldn't make the trip with horrible weather and we will be hard pressed to replace them.

With 34 seconds left the Mustangs quarterback throws an interception to the hands of a Missoula Phoenix defender. The Phoenix came out on to the field and downed it to win the game. The final score was 3-0. This game was another big win for the Phoenix for there second win of the season bringing their record to 2-0. This game was a defensive battle all the way to the end until it seemed like on the last few plays were the Mustangs offense broke down to give the victory to the Phoenix.

With about 6 minutes left in the 4th quarter Mustang quarterback Ard throws it deep only to be intercepted by Hughes, getting your Phoenix to the 47. Atkinson takes the Phoenix for another first down. With a penalty on the play the Phoenix are now on the 10. Its first and goal. Only 10 more yards to the fisrt touchdown of the day. Boaz catches it for about a 5 yard gain. Atkinson takes a run for about 1. The Phoenix are now on the 4 yard line. There is a penalty on third taking the Phonix back to the 9. It is 3rd down. Jurasek scrambles around in the backfield and throws an incomplete. Its 4th and 9. Brian Meier kicks the field goal and MAKES IT. The scoreboard has changed making it now 3-0 Phoenix.

On 4th and 1 the Phoenix go for it. Jurasek takes it staright through the line for the first. Brian Meier takes the pass in for the first down which brings the Missoula Phoenix to the Mustang 21. On third down Jurasek gets taken down in the bakcfield. Spencer goes for the 38 yard fieldgoal and misses it wide right. It is now the Mustangs ball on the 20.
