Rockets trying desperately to score.  Three pass attempts to the endzone are thwarted.  Fourth down and Colwell picks it off stopping the Rockets thrust.  Phoenix takes a knee and that is a ball game.  Don't forget our next game May 3 at home against the undefeated Utah Wolverines.

Not moving the ball on first or second down.   Arnold completes a short pass to Lumpkin who turns it into a six yard gain.  Fourth down with 2:00 left in the fourth.  Spencers forty five yard field goal had plenty of distance, but misses just right.

Phoenix put the second string in on offense.  Arnold at QB but without much time the Phoenix march backwards twenty yards.   The punt receiver is blown up by Colwell and Sanderson recovers the ball.

Rockets take the kickoff to the forty, but a personal foul marches it back to the 25.  A long pass over the middle is tipped by Hardenburg then caught, but the receiver fumbles after the catch.   Sanderson recovers and returns it to midfield.

Phoenix defense holds and the punt goes out of bounds at the fifteen.  First down Phoenix!   First down Shane Byers on a nice pass.  First down on a scramble by Shane Jurasek.  Urdahl with six yards up the middle with 5:40 left in the half.  Lumpkin then takes a short pass and turns it into a big gainer to the Rockets 46 yard line.

Temperature is around 70 degrees and gusts of 30 mph on the field.   The Canadians couldn't make the trip with horrible weather and we will be hard pressed to replace them.

With 34 seconds left the Mustangs quarterback throws an interception to the hands of a Missoula Phoenix defender. The Phoenix came out on to the field and downed it to win the game. The final score was 3-0. This game was another big win for the Phoenix for there second win of the season bringing their record to 2-0. This game was a defensive battle all the way to the end until it seemed like on the last few plays were the Mustangs offense broke down to give the victory to the Phoenix.

With about 6 minutes left in the 4th quarter Mustang quarterback Ard throws it deep only to be intercepted by Hughes, getting your Phoenix to the 47. Atkinson takes the Phoenix for another first down. With a penalty on the play the Phoenix are now on the 10. Its first and goal. Only 10 more yards to the fisrt touchdown of the day. Boaz catches it for about a 5 yard gain. Atkinson takes a run for about 1. The Phoenix are now on the 4 yard line. There is a penalty on third taking the Phonix back to the 9. It is 3rd down. Jurasek scrambles around in the backfield and throws an incomplete. Its 4th and 9. Brian Meier kicks the field goal and MAKES IT. The scoreboard has changed making it now 3-0 Phoenix.

On 4th and 1 the Phoenix go for it. Jurasek takes it staright through the line for the first. Brian Meier takes the pass in for the first down which brings the Missoula Phoenix to the Mustang 21. On third down Jurasek gets taken down in the bakcfield. Spencer goes for the 38 yard fieldgoal and misses it wide right. It is now the Mustangs ball on the 20.

As the Phoenix punt it on 4th and 4 the mustangs get it back on the Phoenix 45 with 3:41 left the go in the 3rd quarter. The defense stops the Mustang offense and gives the Phoenix offense another chance to score. The Phoenix ge the ball back on the 10. On first down Jurasic throws the ball to Mihlader for a gain of only about 1. Brian Meier gets the first down. The ball is now on the 32 with the score still 0-0.

At the start of the second half the Missoula Phoenix get the ball. They now have it on the 26. Nick Arnold is at quarterback and is taken down on the first play for a loss of 3. On 2nd down Jurasic is back at quarterback and throws it to Byers but it is incomplete. Now its 2nd and 13 with the ball on the 23. It is now 3rd and a big penalty takes the Phoenix back to the 10. On 3rd Jurasic throws it deep to Boaz, but the pass is incomplete, it would have at least been a 65 yard gain. On 4th Spencer has a poor punt but with a good bounce. The Mustangs get the ball on their own 46. On the Mustangs first 2 plays the Phoenix defense stops them in the backfield, which brings up 3rd and long. On 4th its a halfback pass which is almost intercepted by Sanderson. The Mustangs punt it on 4th and the Phoenix get the ball back and take it to their own 22.

 

NICE STOP PHOENIX DEFENSE!!!

Number 24 Hardenburg intercepted a long pass and got the Phoenix back the ball. On the First play Jurasic threw a long pass to Tyler Boaz for a big gain. Then on 1st Jurasic throws to Lumpkin for yet another first down. On this 1st is a penalty which brings the Phoenix back to the 34. it is now 1st and 28. Jurasic takes the snap and cant find anyone, he is brought down in the backfield for a loss of about 7. It is now 2nd and 34 with the score score still 0-0.

Big Stop By the Phoenix defence on 3rd and short which brings up 4th down. The Mustangs go for and get the 1st down. There is yet another delay of game for the Mustangs on 1st which now brings them to 1st and 15. A run by #4 Jensen for a gain of 3. On 2nd its a screen which gains the Mustangs to 3rd and about 6. On 3rd down #7 Ard can't find anyone and throws it away. The Mustangs go for it and Ard throws it. The ball is intercepted by #10 of the Missoula Phoenix Stephen Schreibeis.

Brawley tries for a short pass but its broken up. The Phoenix crash the backfield the next play for a loss. Lets go D!! Brawley pressured and throws it away, almost intercepted but dropped. Thats 4th and 13 with 1:05 left on the clock. Brawley puts up a big pass but its incomplete!! That turns it over on downs. Phoenix ball on the 40 yard line. They take a knee on 1st down. That'll do it folks. THE PHOENIX TAKE IT 16-10!!!!! Let Go Phoenix!!!

Nixon takes it pon the ground, but gets stopped by Big Nick True. Nixon again and again is stopped after a very short gain. 3rd and 6.

 

Its fumbled and picked up by the Phoenix in the backfield!! Huge Play!!

 

Pass to Lumpkin is grabbed for about 7 yards brringing it to the Blaze  45. Pass is thrown to Nick Arnold who's all alone, he pulls it in and jukes the defense for a gain of about 50 yards to the 10 yard line. A short pass to Lumkin brings it inside the 5.  A tricky snap count get the Blaze off side. Its 1st and one on the goal line. The run is stopped in the back field. The ball is kept on the ground again, and Its in!!! Jurassic gets his head down and puts it in!! Touch Down Phoenix!! The PAT is no good. Its 16-10 Phoenix with 1:36 left on the clock.
